In englischer Sprache umreißt dieses Werk, dessen erste Auflage 1994 im Verlag Wiley-VCH erschien, das System des gewerblichen Rechtsschutzes in Deutschland,

Möglichkeiten des Schutzes von Patenten und Gebrauchsmustern, Marken und
Geschmacksmustern für diverse Produktgattungen. Das außergerichtliche,
patentamtliche und gerichtliche Verfahren von der Anmeldung bis zur Abwehr von
Beeinträchtigungen gewerblicher Schutzrechte werden praxisgerecht erläutert.

This book is a comprehensive compendium of the material and procedural laws and
aspects governing the protection of technical and authentic creations in Germany with a main focus on technical inventions. Special regard is paid to corresponding European Law, in particular as far as patent protection under European Patent Convention (EPC) is concerned. Written for the practitioner in the industry or private practice, the book answers many questions advisers in Germany and abroad will frequently come across.
Under the aspects of obtainment, exploitation and enforcement the book deals with the protection of technical inventions under German Patent and Utility Laws, also considering the corresponding provisions of the EPC and practice of the European Patent Office (EPO). The latest jurisdiction of the German Federal Supreme Court (BGH) is incorporated and recent developments of the EPO, in particular, are covered with due respect to the protection of software related inventions.
Moreover, the infringement proceedings in Germany are explained in their most essential aspects as well as the principles of licensing and applicable antitrust provisions.The book also deals in great detail with all aspects of Design Protection in Germany and provides a fundamental survey on the further relevant laws, for example those referring to Semiconductor Topographies or Copyright Protection.
Further helpful material, such as the ordinances regulating the respective filing requirements issued by the German Patent Office, accompany the book which also contains alphabetic and subject-related indexes which considerably assist the user of the book.
